Listening to this podcast now, and I have to say I groaned a bit when Quinlan mentioned “GT played 3 SEC games this year”.

Now, I don’t mean to totally disrespect GT here, but let’s look at this. Yeah, they played 3 SEC teams, but which ones did they play?

They beat 2-10 Vanderbilt, whom they gave up 31 points to.
They beat 5-7 Mississippi State, whom they gave up 31 points to.
They lost to 7-5 Georgia, giving up 30 points.

If I were GT, I wouldn’t be thumping my chest over this.

Yep, you know Kelley was a guest…changed his schedule and everything to come on our show…so I felt like I couldn’t turn it into a debate. But that SEC schedule thing was a bit crazy.

That’s like saying we played a tough Big 12 school in Iowa State. Oh wait, ISU is actually going to a Bowl, more than we can say for some of those SEC schools.

I do think though that Kelley wasn’t exactly saying that he felt that the non-con was all that tough….but GT fans do. Still, that’s why all of this is fun.

In any case, by now you’ve finished the podcast so….42 Yellow Jacket points???? Really????

  3. Craig R. says:

Yeah, I could’ve laughed out loud when I heard that. Iowa hasn’t even allowed 30 in a game since 2007, much less 40.

I do believe the last time Iowa gave up as many as 40 was that disaster down at Arizona State in 2004.

And if anybody wants to assume that GT will score points against us just because they scored points all season long… well, I hope they didn’t watch that bowl game between the nation’s 5th ranked scoring offense in Nevada against SMU tonight.
